Min turns a tiny Raspberry Pi microcontroller into a self-contained Pure Data synth, audio or MIDI processor. Create using a browser. Disconnect and play.
A Pure Data engine runs on a RP2350 MCU, with a web interface to design and edit patches on the device. No internet connection required.
Tweak values, drop in different objects and rewire while playing.
Boot straight into your patch. Min turns a tiny board into a standalone instrument, audio or MIDI processor.
Pure Data (Pd) is a free, open-source visual programming language for audio and MIDI. Instead of writing code, you wire "objects" together with patch cords. Watch a real synth take shape below. Pause, step through, or speed it up from the bar on each player.
A subtractive voice: sawtooth oscillator into a resonant filter into an amplifier, with one AR envelope driving both the VCF and the VCA — and mumtof a microtonal note converter, setting the pitch.
The finished voice is saved as voice.pd and becomes a single object. Four of those, a MIDI voice allocator, one shared resonance slider and a just-intonation scale make a playable polysynth.
Pure Data was created by Miller Puckette in the 1990s, and is developed and maintained by an extended open-source community. It's free to download and use, and runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS and Android. puredata.info ↗
Min works on boards using the RP2350 microcontroller. Here's the feature matrix across the boards we support today.
| Feature | Pico 2 W | Pimoroni Pico Plus 2 W |
|---|---|---|
| USB MIDI I/O | ✓ FREE | ✓ FREE |
| Audio output (supported DAC cards) | ✓ FREE | ✓ FREE |
| Turbo mode - 2x CPU speed | + PLUS | + PLUS |
| Bluetooth MIDI I/O | + PLUS | + PLUS |
| Audio input (supported ADC cards) | + PLUS | + PLUS |
| Audio file upload (supported devices with PSRAM) | — | + PLUS |
Audio file upload needs the PSRAM on the Pimoroni Pico Plus 2 W, this isn't possible with the Raspberry PiPico 2 W.
Drag the firmware onto your board in BOOTSEL mode and you're patching in under a minute.
By downloading you agree to the Min Firmware EULA. Min bundles open-source components — see the third-party licenses.
Couldn't start the download — please try again.
A Min Plus license upgrades a single device. Buy one per board. Hardware board not included.
License keys are delivered by email and tied to one device ID. No subscription, no account.
