What is Min

No OS, DAW or plug-ins. Just patches.

CREATE

A Pure Data engine runs on a RP2350 MCU, with a web interface to design and edit patches on the device. No internet connection required.

EDIT

Tweak values, drop in different objects and rewire while playing.

RUN

Boot straight into your patch. Min turns a tiny board into a standalone instrument, audio or MIDI processor.

What is Pure Data

The engine inside Min

Pure Data (Pd) is a free, open-source visual programming language for audio and MIDI. Instead of writing code, you wire "objects" together with patch cords. Watch a real synth take shape below. Pause, step through, or speed it up from the bar on each player.

1Build a synth voice

A subtractive voice: sawtooth oscillator into a resonant filter into an amplifier, with one AR envelope driving both the VCF and the VCA — and mumtof a microtonal note converter, setting the pitch.

2Stack four of them

The finished voice is saved as voice.pd and becomes a single object. Four of those, a MIDI voice allocator, one shared resonance slider and a just-intonation scale make a playable polysynth.

Pure Data was created by Miller Puckette in the 1990s, and is developed and maintained by an extended open-source community. It's free to download and use, and runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS and Android. puredata.info ↗
